Subject: What Is Your Purpose??
Someone once said that the world was run by a bunch
And you came along and dotted the I's.
That paragraph is not meant as an insult. My purpose is an attempt to get your attention. We are human beings, we do every thing we do for a purpose.
Now, I disagree with the religious concept of "finding your purpose", -- We don't "find", we "decide", -- we human beings need to know and understand our individual purpose if we are going to get to what/where we want to go. We need to be aware that other people will guess about our purpose, based on our behavior. And, hypocrisy is the tag when behavior fails to relate to purpose
Obviously, purpose becomes more important when we live in a Democracy where our behavior is controlled by laws determined by our representatives.
Now that I have your attention, I change my purpose; -- I don't understand your purpose in accepting this new position with Linux, what with your attachment to CustomerTech. Both of these tasks are full time and conflicting in my book.
And as a matter of fact, I can't find any indication of purpose of Linux Journal as well as Linux itself. I now have your post, "What Next??" in my database and I Quote:
Linux Journal was a print magazine for 17+ years, then a digital one for the next 7+. What shall we be now? That's the Big Question, and there are many answers, some of which are already settled.
Now that is a very serious mistake, "What shall we be now?" If you don't know, you are headed for deep problems. You say that some answers are settled -- share those answers so we can decide if we want to be associated with your activity.
And, I went to Linux.com. No purpose there either, what the hell kind of business are you in?? There is an attempt to sell a download to Windows developers. Now why would I want to buy that download without knowledge of it's purpose??. By the way, I would be VERY interested if Linux can handle C++ code, -- I've got an excellent piece of middleware for sale.
The point is that you initially sell the public, customers and employees, on your purpose. Then you develop the communication lines for measuring public response.
BTW, defining one's purpose includes the setting of goals and the process you want to follow to meet those goals, which we can discuss at some later date.
to be continued (of course)

I don't provide for comments since that is a system designed to control the communication process -- I do provide an e-mail address!! (Please put a [MYWAY] in your title to get my attention).
BTW, I am working on a replacement system for individuals -- and I sure could use some help. Please see http://pdmsb.com, a work-in-process.
