Subject: 2015008 - Problems, problems, problems??

I've been working all my adult life toward making people independent, and proving that personal independence is good for business as well as for hacking and other sources of pleasure and productivity. But I wonder whether or not most people, including all of us here, would rather operate in captivity. Hey, it's where everybody else is. Why not?

Hi Doc!! That paragraph reeks of frustration -- and, if I am correct, I don't blame you -- one damn bit!!

The problem is -- you are part of the problem, in that you have helped create the situation that you are complaining about -- which, of course, I have been trying to get you to understand. And i don't mean that as an insult; however you have heard the story about the donkey and the 2 x 4, right??

You have to learn the process that people one hell of a lot smarter than i have developed for solving problems. First, you have to define the problem --  basically the delta between a desired situation and the existing situation.

Then you have to determine the cause/s of that delta. The process must be part of the democratic (group) process since one person can only devise a biased theory. In short you need to get people to communicate on a serious level.

Pat of the problem is the present blog design, with comments, has been developed to limit person to person communication. Facebook and Twitter are designed to limit serious discussion -- so you become part of the problem when you promote those groups.

BTW, Dave is right when he recommends that NYT develop their own distribution -- and wrong when he recommends they patronize Facebook and Twitter.

Obviously, Doc, I can't do the process justice in one simple little post -- You have to open up so that we can get some dialog going. Can you explain, for example, precisely when it means to be "personally independent" and what you are doing to promote that condition?? And how does that relate to the source of your frustration.

To be continued (I really hope)

I don't provide for comments since that is a system designed to control the communication process -- I do provide an e-mail address!! (Please put a [MYWAY] in your title to get my attention).

BTW, I am working on a replacement system -- and I sure could use some help.
