Subject: 2014011 - A Major Upheaval...

I had a dream last night, a dream that helped clarify the meaning of some of our current events. Obviously, dream or no dream, predicting the future based on present events is a very shaky operation because of the infinite forces in play.

However, here are a couple of thoughts for your consideration.

Donald Sterling really got the message about racism, something that must be curtailed.

Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., and Mark Thompson are in the process of getting the message about sexism as well as several other ills about the profession of Journalism.

Now, where these two situations go is entirely dependent upon the reaction of the bystanders -- will they work to reinforce the implied message -- or will they allow each situation to cool down.

One should note the number of events throughout the world where the people are working for people' rights. If we in the United States wish to influence the world then we will have to demonstrate the ability to control our own "Minor Upheavals."

To be continued (I hope)
